As you may or may not know, a few days ago, wyg, a hated leaderboard player died in real life due to overdose. But the next day it turned out that he was alive, just supposedly in critical condition. Now its possible that the whole thing was just a publicity stunt, to grow the tragedy discord server. But even if that's the case, we can learn something from this. The sheer amount of hate we piled on him was not okay. Sure he could be annoying, he boosted and cheated, abused a broken gamemode etc. But when he died irl, we all felt terrible about what we had done. I think we the community should try and learn from our mistakes and never treat anyone that way again

This is true, but I also feel like he was more hated because he was somewhat toxic, at least that's what I disliked him for. I was toxic to him at the start, but I changed my ways towards him and even supported him a couple of times in some of his threads (Not 4v4 wins).

I am glad he's okay though.

Honestly, I feel like that's exactly the reason why they did this: to stop hate towards wyg. That's assuming it's fake, so it might not be the case. Idk if it's fake or not (I'm leaning towards it being fake seeing as they spammed their server around the forums after), but there's no telling whether it is or isn't. But yes, I do agree, we shouldn't hate on anyone. If they are being annoying and rude, we shouldn't be the same back. If they are acting like children, we shouldn't follow their bad example. Two wrongs don't make a right.

Not everything is always as it seems, especially online. Don’t trust anyone, or you’ll be hurt when things go bad.

mind showing the pic of the update saying he's alive? also yes, the haters should learn not to hate

personally, this may look highly smug, but idk why people hated on him. he just played the game and made milestone threads like everyone else, and idk if he cheated or not but even if he did he didn't deserve the hate.

I mean we disliked him but blaming ourselves for his death is downright idiotic

If we let toxicity reign free, then hypixel would become a bigger hellhole then it already is

we can't just condone cheating over "the block game argument" when its just as big an issue in other types of games

Would I feel bad if wyg died? Ofc, very few things warrant feeling good about someone's death, most certainly not cheating in a block game

but please don't use this as an example to allow cheating and toxicity to continue because of "irl situations". If people really are feeling bad irl, then let them express themselves. Keeping feelings like this bottled up won't make people any less annoyed at you the same way a bully who is depressed but never shows it would be hated by the school.

Ik this is hella cringe and dumb but i wanted my opinion out there. However, never make irl threats over a block game, keep toxicity to maybe an L or "bad" , but never bring up realistic situations.

agree, but the whole thing probably was a publicity stunt. no way the doctor would've told them he died when he was still alive and had a chance at living.
